How to Become a Boy Scout

MEET AGE REQUIREMENTS.

COMPLETE A BOY SCOUT APPLICATION AND HEALTH HISTORY SIGNED BY YOUR PARENT OR GUARDIAN.

FIND A SCOUT TROUP NEAR YOUR HOME.

REPEAT THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

DEMONSTRATE THE SCOUT SIGN, SALUTE, AND HANDSHAKE.

DEMONSTRATE TYING THE SQUARE KNOT (a joining knot).

UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO LIVE BY THE SCOUT OATH OR PROMISE, LAW, MOTTO, AND SLOGAN, AND THE OUTDOOR CODE.

Scout Oath or Promise - On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law - A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent

Scout Motto - Be Prepared

Scout Slogan - Do a Good Turn Daily

Outdoor Code - As an American, I will do my best to: be Clean in my outdoor manners, be Careful with fire, be Considerate in the outdoors, and be Conservation-minded.

COMPLETE THE PAMPHLET EXERCISES.

PARTICIPATE IN A SCOUTMASTER CONFERENCE.
