       - Dennis McCarthy plans to buy new rain tarps, then issue each patrol a bucket with tarp, ropes, and stakes.

       - Troop should emphasize patrol flags, patrol yells, etc. at troop meetings and campouts.

       - Troop should have activities that foster team building, problem-solving and patrol spirit.

 2. Treasurer - Kathy Dumanski

Mark presented End of May report for Kathy.

How we end our financial year will depend on the unplanned trailer repair expenses.

Because Troop 81 is a non-profit organization it is not allowed to refund fund-raising balances, only surplus cash payments or expense reimbursements deposited in a family's Scout Account.

Proposed amendment to Troop 81 Bylaws, to be put before the Troop Committee at the August meeting:

    ARTICLE V. FINANCE

    Section 1. Treasurer

    == Current wording ===

    4.    The Treasurer shall designate individual Scout Family Account balances to reflect personal Scout funds held by the Troop.  Scout Family Account balances are refundable, upon request, up to 12 months after a Scout is no longer a registered member of the Troop.

    == Proposed wording ===

    4.    The Treasurer shall designate individual Scout Family Account balances to reflect personal Scout funds held by the Troop. Scout Family Account balances are refundable, up to the maximum amount allowable by law, upon request, up to 12 months after a Scout is no longer a registered member of the Troop.

A draft budget was proposed for our next fiscal year.

Final budget will be discussed at our August meeting.

I've attached the latest draft to these minutes.

Any suggestions should be sent to Kathy and Mark.

We are changing banks to earn more interest (Moving to First Bank of Canyon Creek.)

Any adults interested in coordinating this trip?

 7. Leadership - Rick Montgomery

All boys that turned in leadership forms have been place.   However, not all boys have been told about their positions yet.

 8. Advancement - Bonnie Branch

    o Eagles - Pat Kelly

Bryce Kerr finished all but his BOR for eagle.

 9. New Scouts - Brian Moore

    TFC swimming requirements event completed

First Aid for TFC and swimming event completed.

Initial physical fitness test for TFC completed.

Need to make a chin up bar at summer camp.

 10. Trailer Committee - Ed Nichols

Work has begun on the trail repair.

   Fund raiser ideas were discussed:

Janet Centola and Kathy Dumanski are investigating the possibility of having a local restaurant sponsor a Troop 81 benefit dinner.   Initial thoughts are that we would target early August.  The event will not be mandatory. Proceeds to benefit trailer repair fund.   Fund raising activities need council approval.

We discussed doing a merit badge college.

        Potential pit falls:

= We would be competing with the Council

= We would need to have more rigorous counselor qualifications.

= At the council level, there is a huge demand; could we handle the lines and demand?

= It would be difficult to complete all the requirements for a number of the required merit badges.

        Potential alternatives:

= Do it as a district training opportunity.  The district used to do 8:30AM-12:30PM Saturday classes for these required MB

            Cit in Com

            Cit in Nation

            Cit in World

          Maybe:

            Computer

            Fire Safety

= Merit badge classes -- Open up only to a select number of other troops.

    Other ideas voiced:

        = Distributing flyers

        = Recycling cans

        = Garage sale?

= Ask Cindy McCarthy about other fund raisers.

Other Misc. topics:

The church (RBF) might move as early as January or in a couple years to grow.

          1. The Eagle award is a Scout Award. Most of the adults in the troop know the candidates and how they operate during Scouting activities. We need to see the type of impact they have on the other areas of their lives.
